Who operates the app
Flawless Studio LLC, a United States company, operates Ephemeral. You can use the app without creating an account. For privacy questions or requests, email hi@flawless.studio.
Information handled
Your quotes and preferences. Your favorites, collections, the quotes you write, the quotes you have read, your chosen topics, your theme and your reminder settings are stored on your device. Ephemeral's widgets read them on your device to show your quote. Your device backup settings decide whether a backup includes them.
Notifications. If you allow notifications, Ephemeral schedules your reminders on your device. The app also registers with Firebase Cloud Messaging, which gives your installation a token that can be used to deliver notifications to it.
App activity and diagnostics. Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring may process app interactions, app and device information, installation identifiers, crash reports, performance measurements and related technical details, so we can understand how the app is used and fix problems.
Theme photos. Some themes use background photos loaded from Unsplash. Loading a photo sends a standard web request to Unsplash, which includes your IP address.
Support. If you email us, we receive your email address and what you send, so we can reply.
Ephemeral does not show ads, does not ask iOS for permission to track you, and does not currently offer purchases.
Why it is used
Information on your device powers the app's features: your quotes, collections, reminders, widgets and theme. Analytics helps us understand how the app is used; crash and performance reports help us find and fix failures. Cloud Messaging lets us deliver notifications. We use support messages to answer you. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, these activities may rely on providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interests, legal obligations, or consent as appropriate. Reading this notice does not itself give consent.
Who processes information
Apple provides app distribution. Google provides Firebase analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring and Cloud Messaging. Unsplash serves theme photos. These providers may process information in the United States or other countries under their own terms and transfer arrangements. Sharing a quote sends its image to the app or service you choose, which has its own privacy practices. See Firebase privacy information, Unsplash's privacy policy and Apple privacy information.
Your choices and rights
In the app, you can remove favorites, collections and quotes you have written, and change your topics, theme and reminders. In iOS Settings, you can turn Ephemeral's notifications off at any time. Device settings let you manage app storage and backups. Deleting the app removes the information it stores on your device, but not existing device backups or information already processed by service providers.
Depending on where you live and the processing involved, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, or to complain to a data protection authority. Email hi@flawless.studio to make a request. We may need information to verify and handle it; we cannot retrieve information stored only on your device.
Children
Ephemeral is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us.
Retention and security
Information on your device stays until you remove it or delete the app, subject to your device backup settings. Analytics, diagnostic, messaging and support records are kept for the purposes described here and according to the providers' retention settings, applicable law and service requirements. We use device and provider security controls to protect information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Updates and contact
We may update this notice as the app or its services change. The date at the top identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated as required by law.
